About

My Background

I attended Fordham University at Lincoln Center and received a B.S. in Social Science. I was fortunate enough to do an independent study with the Dr. Margaret Mead, the founder of Cultural Anthropology.

I received a M.S. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from the Bank Street College of Education. I taught in day care centers, in Blythdale Children’s Hospital, and I eventually trained teachers at Kean College of New Jersey.

My Ph.D. is from Yeshiva University, where I learned how to be a school psychologist. As part of my training I worked with Dr. Barbara Wilson, neuropsychologist and Drs. Louis Najarian and Fredrick Daum; all were associated with North Shore University Hospital. These experts trained me to work with language impaired children and with children with gastrointestinal disorders.

I was a school psychologist at elementary schools in Herricks and Roslyn, Long Island. At the same time I studied in a post-doctoral program at the Derner Institute which is part of Adelphi University. Here I continued to specialize in children and adolescents.

In addition to my private practice I have done research in various areas. Hazing became a specialty of mine and I wrote a book entitled: Preventing Hazing: How Parents, Teachers and Coaches Can Stop the Violence, Harassment and Humiliation. Currently I am conducting research on Sexting.

I love being a psychologist and I enjoy sharing knowledge, stimulating others to gain new information, and in general, I like to help people feel better, asap. In order to do this I have created RealPsychology.com.

I hope that you gain a new perspective from browsing my website. Questions, comments and insights are always welcome.

Enjoy!
